10 Greatest Spider-Man Multiversal Crossovers (That Would Also Be Perfect Movies)

While he hasn’t had as many as the likes of Batman (who has had far more than anyone could guess), Spider-Man is no stranger to a good multiversal crossover. Whether he crosses paths with Marvel characters from other universes, the DC universe, or characters from the most unexpected franchises, it’s always fun to watch Spider-Man meet characters from other franchises.

Despite typically working alone, Spider-Man is always compelling when he meets, teams up with, and/or faces off with other characters outside of his home series. He often doesn’t work too well with others, which adds not only to conflict in the story but also to the story’s entertainment factor. What are Spider-Man’s best crossovers, though? There are a few to check out, so it’s a tough competition, but at the end of the day, the ones on this list are all pretty badass and worthy of checking out.

Predator

One of the most recent Spider-Man crossovers that takes place in Spidey’s comic book career is his dueling with the Predator. This clash of titans is especially timely due to the release of Predator: Badlands (probably intentional). In Predator Vs. Spider-Man (2025), as New York City is thrown into a blackout, Spider-Man jumps into action to keep the city under control until things can get back to normal. However, a Predator known as Skinner, one with no clan and as ruthless as any, is out for blood… spider blood.

It may be a face-off that many would never expect, but it is super interesting. While Spider-Man is experienced in facing off against ruthless monsters, like Carnage, fighting Predator — especially Skinner — is a whole new beast of a challenge for him. Not only is Predator out for Spidey, but his rogues gallery is at risk, too. Things only get worse when multiple Predators get involved, and things only go wilder from there.

The Transformers

Believe it or not, Spidey has come face-to-face with the Robots in Disguise themselves. This didn’t occur in a Spider-Man-centric series, though. He got to meet up with the Autobots and Decepticons through his tenure with the New Avengers in New Avengers/Transformers (2007). This is a crossover that was unexpected but still a ton of fun to see, especially when Web Head got the chance to interact with the robots.

In this story, Spider-Man is actually captured when the New Avengers investigate a threat in Latveria and held prisoner by none other than Doctor Doom and Megatron. This approach allowed Spider-Man to have interesting interactions with the likes of Megatron and, eventually, others as he gets rescued and fights alongside the other Avengers and Autobots in the final battle. Spidey has a pretty special spot in this crossover, making it an entertaining one for fans of the hero’s wackiest adventures.

Godzilla

Recently, Marvel Comics had a huge multi-series crossover with the King of the Monsters, Godzilla. The gigantic kaiju went up against—each in a series of their own—The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Hulk, Thor, The Avengers, and, of course, Spider-Man. At first look, most people would think, “How on Earth is Spider-Man going to defeat Godzilla?” and that is incredibly valid, given the size difference here (Godzilla is also a walking atomic bomb, so…).

Things looked up for Spidey for a minute, thanks to the help of the alien symbiote. However, in the worst line of events possible, the symbiote ended up jumping to Godzilla. So, not only did Spider-Man fight Godzilla, but he fought a symbiote Godzilla, as well. While there’s genuinely no chance that this will ever happen in any kind of medium outside the comic, it’s fun to imagine a world where Godzilla and Spider-Man duke it out on the silver screen. One can dream.

The First Spider-Verse

While the concept of multiversal Spider-People crossing over with each other was a thing for a while before this, Dan Slott first introduced the concept of an actual “Spider-Verse” in this big 2014 comic crossover event. Morlun and his family, the Inheritors, put the Spider-People up against enemies unlike any they’d ever seen before, villains that truly required an entire Spider-Verse of heroes to take down and save the multiverse from. The event not only brought in and created fan favorite Spider-People, filling the story with some incredible moments.

It was one of the most popular Marvel crossovers in quite some time when it released, and spawned the gigantic Spider-Verse craze that continues to this day, with the third movie in a blockbuster trilogy based on the series coming out soon, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. It was such a success that Marvel seems to do some sort of Spider-Verse crossover pretty much every single year. It introduced the massively popular Spider-Gwen and Silk, and brought back the already fan-favorite Superior Spider-Man.

Attack on Titan

Many would not only be surprised to see these franchises on the page together, but most didn’t know that the crossover was released in the first place. For some reason, for the general public/readership, this one flew a bit under the radar. Much like the Transformers crossover, this one-shot wasn’t a Spider-Man-centric series, but a Marvel-wide one, titled Attack on Avengers (2014). However, Spider-Man himself gets to go toe-to-toe with some Titans, and it’s a glorious sight to behold.

Attack on Avengers (2014) takes place in a universe where the Titan scourge happens to the world of the Marvel heroes and raises the question of whether they could go up against these monsters. It’s a short one-shot, but fans get to see Spider-Man literally solo a Titan, kicking it in the jaw with the most strength he can muster, cracking jokes like he always has. Seeing Spidey go up against such a gigantic creature brings quite the David and Goliath vibe, and it’s super cool.

Invincible

One of the more popular Spider-Man crossovers outside of Marvel is his one-shot with the likes of Invincible from Image Comics. As seen in the Invincible television show, during a universe-hopping battle, the young hero is sent throughout universes, and one of them happens to be that of Marvel Comics, where he specifically meets the Wall-Crawler. While his tenure in this world is quite short in the show (and not Marvel’s, due to rights issues), Invincible actually goes on an entire adventure with Spidey in the comic books.

These two ended up being a great team-up, thanks to their similar personalities, and brought not only great comedy (thanks to excellent writer, Robert Kirkman) but also excellent storytelling. Occurring in Marvel Team-Up #14 (2005), Kirkman definitely seemed to have a blast of a time bringing his baby into the Marvel universe, and gave him some wonderful interactions not just with Spidey, but the entire Marvel universe, too. This team-up is so beloved that people were pretty much begging for it to take place in Invincible, praying the character’s rights issues would let them, especially given the fact that a majorly favorite Spider-Man voice actor, Josh Keaton, was hired to voice the character replacement for the Web-Slinger.

Superman

Just because they’re “competitors” does not mean that Marvel Comics and DC Comics have not had some fun together in the past. One of the best, most iconic examples is when Marvel’s famed Wall-Crawler was put up against, then teamed up with, DC’s Man of Steel. When they came together in 1976 in Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man (1976), fans got to see some awesome moments between these two comic titans, like Spider-Man punching Superman and almost breaking his hand.

Written by the ever-beloved Gerry Conway, this crossover had everything, and seeing these two interact with each other is so surreal and fun to read, making it incredibly memorable. Fun enough, the crossover is so successful that the two comic book companies are actually returning to this team-up in 2026. It’s a cult classic story that is one of the foundations of Spider-Man multiversal crossovers to this very day.

The ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Franchise

While the original story by Dan Slott was great and kicked off the Spider-Verse craze, the formula and concept were perfected by the film franchise spawned from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. These films are critically adored and for very good reasons. Deciding to follow Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and making the Spider-Verse story a road to tell the new young Spider-Man’s story was an excellent idea.

This film and its sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, were not only commercially successful but also shook the ground beneath the animated film realm and redefined how animation studios would make their projects moving forward. Film and television projects like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Arcane are proof of the impact that this franchise has had on animation. At the end of the day, though, people love these crossovers because of the stories and the characters within them. Miles’ character arc is wonderful, and audiences all over the world are invested and begging for more.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021)

After the Spider-Verse had its big bang moment in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the live-action franchises even got in on the action via Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Tom Holland‘s Marvel Cinematic Universe Spidey met up with the Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire iterations of the arachnid hero. Holland’s Spidey also got to fight and even team up with the villains from the Maguire and Garfield universes, too. The likes of Willem Dafoe‘s Green Goblin, all the way to Jamie Foxx‘s Electro, make their reappearances in this 2021 film.

What an event of film this was. It brings in characters from the Spider-Man live-action multiverse and refuses to just make them nostalgia-bait, making every character have a spot in the story (even the smallest of roles, like Rhys Ifans‘ Lizard). They’re all essential to the plot, and the same can even be said for the other Spider-Men, who appear for a short time but are vital to MCU Peter’s character arc. An unforgettable film with even more unforgettable moments.

Batman

This one felt like a given, in all honesty. Batman is DC’s golden boy, just as Spider-Man is Marvel’s golden boy. It would simply be a mistake not to have them crossover at some point in time. Fans got exactly that in 1995, when the two crossed paths as their extremely deadly villains, Joker and Carnage, came together to cause chaos unlike anything either had seen. Spider-Man and Batman have such an interesting parallel, as their stories are so similar, but also so contrasting, and the same can be said about their personalities.

Writer J.M. DeMatteis crafted a story that was super exciting and beyond memorable. Not to mention, having the ever-talented Mark Bagley bring the art to life made for some spectacular visuals, too. Both heroes have crossed over with many others, and are an almost perfect pair for a story that has character and external conflicts, so it’s genuinely surprising that it took DC and Marvel until 1995 to bring these two together.
